Hello! I hope you all are enjoying the snow as much as I am. This week has been wonderful from all of these snow days, I’ve just been catching up on reading and relaxing before the semester starts for school. Our pup, Snoop, has been enjoying it as well. He was a bit skeptical at first, putting his paw outside the door to touch it then quickly snatching it back in. He warmed up to it eventually and was hopping around in no time. With all this down time, I’ve been giving some thought on a good New Year’s resolution for 2018…
Everyone has been making their New Year’s resolution and have been asking me the dreadful question, “What’s your’s, Krista?”. I honestly could not think of one. Not a single one. I’m really not into those things. Like, you’re gonna be the same exact person you were last year, it’s not a “New Year, New You”, b. But then I started to really think about it. What are things I could really work on to better myself, for myself?
I’ve always struggled with the way I view myself. If it’s not one thing that’s wrong it’s another: my jawline isn’t well-defined, my nose is too large, I’m too pale, I’m too fat, the list goes on and on. I see beautiful bloggers and gorgeous models all over my Instagram feed and can’t help but compare my rather large hips with their skinny and narrow ones. I used to duck and hide from photos because of all these things I saw “wrong” with myself and the way I looked. My best friend and I have very little pictures together in 2017 because of this issue. The sad part is, I’m always preaching to my friends and my family that they’re so beautiful, to never forget it… and I can’t even remind myself.
So, with that being said, here’s my New Year’s resolution: LOVE MYSELF! Every. Single. Quality. I see this message everywhere, but never thought to actually implement it. I was too busy comparing myself to ridiculous standards to even enjoy who I am. Big nose, small nose, fat, skinny, it doesn’t matter. It’s so important to take the time to appreciate you being YOU! Take a bubble bath and read a book, get a cup of coffee and sit out on the porch a while. Take a long look in the mirror while you’re getting ready for the day. In that moment, be humble of small things such as your hair and the way it falls or the color of your eyes. Whatever you need to do to love yourself, please do it!
I’m going to try my hardest to practice what I preach this year. Along with this self love post, I also decided to change my hair (and love it because love yourseeeelf girl). It’s still taking a bit to get used to the bangs. Overall, I really like it! New Year, new do.
